Hi Everyone,
I am thrilled to announce that our much-awaited
product Choiceworks
System is now available. My son has benefited
so much from the visual supports that I have
made him over the years that other parents and
staff from his school asked me to make visual
supports for them. This led me to create the
Choiceworks
System.
Visual supports can be very powerful! By increasing
a child's understanding, they can reduce anxiety,
and diminish inappropriate behaviors, making
for a happier and more productive situation
all around.
My goal was to create something that was simple
for both the child and the adult to use. While
giving you everything you need to get started,
the Choiceworks
System is designed to be flexible so you
can customize it to a particular child's needs
or wants. The wheels can be changed, different
pictures can be used on the magnets and all
the surfaces are dry erase so changes or additions
can easily be made.
A unique feature is the choice wheels. Research
has shown that more than anything else, children
are motivated by choice. The option to choose
allows the child to be part of the process and
creates collaboration between caregiver and
child-all parts of successful outcome.
Whether your child is typically developing,
verbal or nonverbal, visual supports work. I
hope that you will find the many components
of the Choiceworks
System helpful.
All My Best,
Michele Walker, MS
These are my favorite AAPC Books!
