As a single mother of a teenaged son with Asperger Syndrome and a rambunctious four-year-old daughter, Jan Johnston-Tyler brings a joyful but no-nonsense approach to her professional and personal life, and believes that the only true barriers are often self- or socially imposed. Currently completing her master’s in counseling psychology (her third career in as many decades), Ms. Johnston-Tyler works part time with high school students in career assessment, and hopes to continue to write about her experiences, both as a mother of an Asperger teen and working with high-risk and special needs youth in career development.
