Greetings
to all,
We
are excited to announce the publication
of Strategies
at Hand: Quick Strategies for Students
with Autism. Strategies at Hand
was designed to be a tool to help quickly
identify successful for teaching students
with autism. We divided the topics and
strategies into four categories and color-coded
for each reference: environments, specific
skills, transitions, and resources.
During
the development stages, Strategies
at Hand was used by both special and
general education teachers to ensure it
included what is most needed by teachers
and paraprofessionals - effective and
easy-to-use strategies. We expect this
tool to become invaluable as you work
with students with autism in schools.
With
this flip-book at their fingertips, teachers
will never again have to search for effective
strategies to use with students with autism
spectrum disorders. Choose strategies
based on a variety of educational environments,
for specific skill areas, or when engaging
in transitions. If you are not familiar
with a given strategy, marked with an
asterisk, you can go to a special section
for a brief explanation and a listing
of resources with further information.
From now on when someone asks, "What
do I need to do now?" reach for Strategies
at Hand to help ensure your students are
successful.
Wishing
you the best
Robin
Brewer, Ed.D., and Tracy Gershwin Mueller,
Ph.D.
